Terms of service.

What you agree to when you use this site, request a quote, or hire us. Plain-English version below — no surprises in the fine print.

01 Who we are

Aluma Outdoor is a trade name of Aluma Contracting Ltd, an Ontario corporation (incorporated 2020), registered office 17-6790 Davand Drive Suite 2301, Mississauga ON L5T 2G5. Any contract for outdoor construction services is with Aluma Contracting Ltd, not with any individual employee.

02 Using this site

You're welcome to browse, request a quote, and contact us via this site. You agree not to scrape it for commercial reuse, attempt to access non-public admin areas, or submit content that's unlawful or infringes anyone's rights.

03 Information accuracy

We make a reasonable effort to keep this site accurate — but prices, timelines, and material specifications shown here are illustrative. The only binding numbers are those in a written quote signed by both parties.

04 Quotes

Our quotes are valid for 30 days from issue unless we state otherwise in writing. After 30 days, material costs may have shifted and we may need to re-issue. A quote is not a contract — a signed work agreement is the contract.

05 Payment terms

Payment terms are set out in each individual project agreement and typically include a deposit at sign-off, a progress payment during the build, and a final payment at completion. Specific terms (amounts, timing, payment methods) are in your signed agreement, not on this page.

06 Permits and code compliance

All outdoor construction is built to the Ontario Building Code in effect at the time of permit application. Permit fees, when required, are typically passed through at cost; whether they're included in or itemized on top of your quote is specified per project.

07 Warranties

Each completed project receives a written warranty appropriate to the work. Workmanship warranty is typically 5 years; material warranties (composite decking, aluminum decking, pavers) pass through from the manufacturer per their terms. Cedar and pressure-treated lumber carry no material lifespan warranty from us — wood ages and we'll be straight about what to expect. Warranty does not cover normal wear, damage from misuse or extreme weather, or work performed by others on our installations.

08 Site access

When we work on your property you grant us reasonable access to the work area during agreed hours. We provide our own liability insurance ($2M general liability) and WSIB coverage for our workers. Damage to your property caused by our negligence is covered by our insurance; we don't ask you to indemnify us for our own mistakes.

09 Subcontractors

We use our own crew for the structural work. When a specialty trade is needed (engineering for big walls, licensed electrical for outdoor lighting, plant selection from a designer) we engage a partner we've worked with. We remain responsible to you for the overall project quality and timeline.

10 Changes during the build

If you want to change scope mid-build — bigger deck, different material, add a pergola — we re-price the change in writing and you approve it before work continues. We don't do surprise change-orders.

11 Cancellation

Under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act you have rights to cancel certain home-improvement contracts within 10 days of signing. Specifics are in your signed agreement. After the cancellation window, cancellation terms depend on what work has been done and what materials have been ordered.

12 Liability

Aluma Contracting Ltd is liable for damages caused by its own negligence, up to the value of the project plus reasonable consequential damages. We're not liable for indirect or speculative damages (e.g. lost rental income from a backyard not being available during construction beyond the agreed timeline). Nothing in these terms limits liability for personal injury caused by our negligence — Ontario law doesn't allow that.

13 Intellectual property

The text, photos, and design of alumaoutdoor.ca are owned by Aluma Contracting Ltd. You may not republish them without permission. Photos of your completed project may appear in our gallery; we ask first if any identifying detail (house number, etc.) is visible.

14 Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.

15 Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes are posted here with an updated date at the top. Material changes (anything affecting an active customer's rights) are communicated directly to active customers.
